Our Intermediate hurlers were finally back in action following the lockdown and it was great to see everyone out and about. Fielding a relatively young and inexperienced side minus the majority of last seasons team. It was great to see these young lads hurl with abandon and match their opponents with skill and endevour. The team was dotted with experience in captain Evan Condon in goal, Evan O Brien and Paul Downes in the full back line, Kevin McNamara at wing back and David Shepperd at full forward.
We began the game quite well with youngsters Dylan Lynch, Matthew DeCourcey, Pa O Neill and JJ Carey prominent. Three points a piece from Dylan( 3 frees) and Pa O Neill along with points from David Shepperd and Justin Norden had us level at half time 2-03 to 0-9.
In the second half we upped our game and following the water break. By the second half water break we trailed by a point 2-7 to 0-12 but the final 13 minutes we powered on to the finish. Further scores from David Shepperd(4), Daniel Long(2), JJ Carey, John Leahy and Ger Kearns sealed an excellent win for the team.
Overall it was very pleasing to see our younger brigade hurl so well and no doubt these games will bring them on no end.
Compliments to Mike Mann who had a good game and also to our ground staff who had the pitch in great condition.
