Hurling at Na Piarsaigh
Na Piarsaigh’s senior hurling team is a powerhouse in Limerick GAA, renowned for its skill, dedication, and competitive spirit. Our team’s dynamic style of play along with exceptional work ethic and determination has earned us multiple Limerick Senior Championships since our maiden title in 2011.
Completing at every level
We field four adult hurling teams in championship each year. Our flagship team competes in the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship and the City Senior Hurling League, while our second team competes in the Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship and the East Senior Hurling League. Our Junior B hurlers compete in the City Junior B Championship and the East League, while our Junior C team, formed in 2023, competes in the Limerick Junior C County Championship. Our Under-20s, formerly Under-21s, compete in the Limerick Premier Under-21 Championship, while our minor hurlers are in the Limerick Premier Minor Hurling Championship.
Players have not only showcased their talents on the county stage but have also been instrumental in Na Piarsaigh’s success over the years.
Multiple Na Piarsaigh players have lined out for the Limerick senior hurling team since the club’s formation in 1968, with many also being selected at under-21 and minor levels. The current Limerick senior hurling squad contains four Na Piarsaigh men: William O’Donoghue, Mike and Peter Casey, and Conor Boylan. Damien Quigley won our first All Star award in 1994 based on his exceptional performances for Limerick in the Munster and All Ireland series. Shane Dowling followed Squidy all of 20 years later, picking up his All Star award in 2014. Peter Casey and William O’Donoghue were both honoured in 2021 with All Star awards based on Limericks incredible unbeaten campaign in both the Munster and All Ireland Championship. William went on to win his second accolade in 2023, while Peter picked up the Man of the Match award for his 5-point from play display against Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Final of the same year.
These players have not only showcased their talents on the county stage but have also been instrumental in Na Piarsaigh’s success over the years. Their dedication and achievements continue to inspire upcoming hurlers in the club.
