Under 14 Hurling Championship Final

Mick Neville Park was the venue for the under 14 championship final, with Monaleen our hotly favored opponents. We defeated Mungret by 6 points to advance to this year's final while Monaleen had a comfortable win over Kilmallock in their semi-final.
Charlie Ryan got us off the mark with a well taken point inside the opening minutes. Harry O’Sullivan added 2 of his own from play. Monaleen registered a goal and 5 before our midfield maestro Ross O’Flanagen landed his first score. Aaron Ward popped up with a badly needed goal just on the stroke of half time. It wasn’t for the want of trying with 3 of our first half goal chances being well saved by the Monaleen keeper. The most notable of these being a great effort by Joe Daly, acrobatically saved to the keepers left. While our forwards were functioning well up front, our defense was doing trojan work at the back. Goal keeper Toby was finding good range with his puckouts while our full back line of Conal, Ronan and Michael all put in a solid shift. George Stack and Cian Moore both worked their socks off all throughout, doing the donkey work in the build up to many of our scores. Half time score: Na Piarsaigh 1-05 Monaleen 2-07

Cian Moore had a good game at wing forward.
Harry clipped over a free just after the restart before Joe finally found the net to leave the minimum between the sides on 40 minutes. Ross landed 2 monster frees from way out along with Harry adding one more placed ball. We were keeping within a point of Monaleen but the leveler remained elusive. Seán Ryan, George Bourke and Liam Sheahan all stood firm in our half back line while Danial O’Donavan partnered up well with Ross at midfield. Monaleen started to chip away at the scoreboard in the closing minutes, extending their lead out to 5 points with time almost up. Our lads battled to the bitter end but it wasn’t to be. Final score: Na Piarsaigh 2-09 Monaleen 2-13

Joe Daly winds up.
While disappointing to lose a county final, we have to be greatly encouraged with the growth and development our lads have gone through over the past season. Much like our loss in the minor county final 2 weeks ago, I came away from Rathkeale on Saturday confident for the future of Na Piarsaigh. Credit must be given to the management team for their efforts and hard work. No doubt they’ll be back next season to drive this group on again.

Senior Football Championship Quarter Final

Our senior footballers went down to a heavy defeat to Fr. Caseys in the county quarter final on Saturday evening. Rathkeale’s Bog Garden was the venue of choice on this occasion with conditions being ideal for football.

Eoghain Sherlock on the attack.

We got off to a bright start with Evan Egan rattling the net with a brilliantly worked team goal. Dylan took possession inside the 45, gave a lovely through-ball pass to Locky who brought possession inside the 14. He duly squared a low kick-pass across the face of goal, for Dylan to find an unmarked Egan at the edge of the square. Back of the net. It was a great moment that we unfortunately did not match for the remainder of the game. Fr. Casey’s would run out convincing winners. Final score: Na Piarsaigh 1-06 Fr. Casey’s 3-12

Jack McCarthy gets a pass away.

Saturday’s result should not cloud the progress made by Latcha and his team this year. 2024 saw many debutants with brothers Darragh and Adam Jordan, Stanley Dike, Tommy Glynn and Louis Murphy all playing senior championship for the first time. We saw the welcome return of Locky and Hogie to the set up along with Jack McCarthy being introduced to the fold. Huge credit due to Latcha for a 5-year term that was full of ups and downs, but without doubt leaving football in a stronger place than he found it.

Sweeney still has the burst of pace.

Trad Night

We will be hosting a trad night on the 3rd of October from 8:30 in the club bar. Cathal King, along with a couple of our younger club members and some special guests will be providing the tunes. Trad night will be held on the first Thursday of every month and all are welcome. You may bring along your own instrument if you so wish, or even your voice.

Tommy Burtchaell

The sun was shining down on Na Piarsaigh in what was a fantastic day of hurling for our annual Tommy Burtchaell U10 memorial tournament. The event ran seamlessly thanks to our wonderful team of volunteers. Thanks to all our traveling teams who made it a special day. Last and not least thanks to the 40 kids that turned out for Na Piarsaigh and played some unreal hurling.
