Senior Football Championship Quarter Final Vs Fr. Casey's

Saturday afternoon will see our senior footballers line out in the county quarter final in what is a repeat of last year’s fixture against Fr. Casey’s. We came out second best on that occasion but it’s fair to say our lads have taken a bit of wind to their sails in recent weeks and will be entering the tie confident of overturning last years result. Huge credit must go to Latcha for steadying the ship after what was a challenging start to the campaign.

Fr. Casey's come into this quarter final having finished 2nd in their group. Their only loss came in the opening round to defending champions Newcastle West.

Round 1: Na Piarsaigh 0-03 Mungret 2-14

A tough night at the office. While entering the game with a long list of injuries, our young team that took to the field must be commended for their exceptional work rate and application throughout the 60 minutes. It was certainly a difficult evening but no doubt stood to these lads in the games that lay ahead. It must be notes the challenges that our manager Micheál Lynch had to tackle in the build up with four of our regular starters unavailable due to injury with Evan Sweeney, Cathal McMullan, Evan O’Brien and Shane Walsh all ruled out. Eoghain Sherlock, Ruaidhrí Ó Conail, Ian Leonard and Jack Barry were all away for the game while Dean, Ralph and Dylan were all carrying knocks. The opening minutes of the game saw our centre back Conor Mc Loughlin suffering a serious shoulder injury that saw him miss the round 2 and 3. A huge positive to take were the multiple senior debuts. The two Jordan brothers, Adam and Darragh both lining out at 10 and 12 respectively, along with Tommy Glynn, he having flown back from Germany especially for the game. Louis Murphy, Matty Walsh and Stanley Dike all made their debuts off the bench. While Friday was a tough evening, better days lay ahead for our lads.

Round 5: Na Piarsaigh 1-07 Adare 0-10

Back to Clarina for round 5 against a fancied Adare side. The half time score probably didn’t reflect well on our efforts but all changed in the second period with Evan Egan scoring a goal for the ages and chipping in with 3 points as well.
