UNDER 11 HURLERS

Our under 11 hurlers had a very enjoyable trip to Blarney for a blitz on Saturday.

Here they faced Ballybacon Grange, Sixmilebridge and the hosts Blarney. Following some excellent hurling the lads reach the final but unfortunately lost out on an aggregate score.

An absolute fantastic group performance where the kids really represented the club impeccably. The future is bright that is for sure.

Well done to all concerned and big thanks to our hosts Blarney and all the coaches and parents who made the trip.

UNDER 9 HURLERS

Our under 9 hurlers were also on their travels over the weekend when they made the journey to the capital to participate in the Festival of Hurling held in UCD hosted by Kilmacud Crokes.

A wonderful and exciting day was had by all with some great hurling on show. Well done to all the players who are improving at a steady rate. Big thank you to the organisers and to the parents for making great memories for the kids.

SENIOR HURLERS

Our senior hurlers were back in action when they travelled to Doon to take on table toppers Kilmallock in the final round of the group stages. With a semi final spot on offer for the lads if they could overturn the Balbec.

It was evident early on that the lads were ready as we raced into a 3 point lead.

In fact, we were hurling really well and had some excellent points from Ronan Lynch, Keith Dempsey and Will Henn.

An Oisin O Reilly goal briefly put us back on our heels but further points from Ronan, JJ, and a long-range free from keeper Shane Dowling sent us into the break 0-11 to 1-05 in front.

The second half was more of the same with some excellent points from a range of scorers including Mike Foley, Adrian Breen, Emmet McEvoy, and Ronan Lynch to give us a deserved victory on a 0-20 to 1-9 score-line.

We are now back in the County semi-finals where we await the quarter-final winners between Doon and Mungret. Incidentally, the semi-final will be played in the Gaelic Grounds on Oct 15th with time TBC

INTERMEDIATE HURLERS

Our second string were also in action over the weekend when they travelled out to Croagh to face Newcastle west.

In terrible conditions we managed to stay in the game and found ourselves only 2 points adrift at the break 0-7 to 0-5.

They increased their lead in the second half and try as we might we just couldn't get the vital scores to turn it around.

Their keeper in particular pulled off 3 great saves as we pressed for the major scores in the closing minutes.

We now have 1 game left in the group against Dromin Athlacca on Sunday Oct 1st in Fedamore at 2pm

Final score NCW 0-16 Na Piarsaigh 0-10
